STILETTO STROLL WOMEN'S SECOND-LINE PARADE

Once again, FestiGals took to the streets on June 24th for a one-of-a-kind New Orleans street parade where we were the stars! We came decked out in boas, tiaras, colorful “glow” attire and comfortable shoes (stilettos were NOT required!), ready to party.

We kicked things off on a high note at the Mardi Gras Museum of Costume & Culture. The museum features an amazing array of Carnival costumes from the collection of Carl Mack, showcasing the history of Mardi Gras costuming in New Orleans.

THE PARADE ENDED AND THE PARTY BEGAN AT HARRAH'S NEW ORLEANS CASINO THEATER! Guest Emcee Kenny Lopez of WGNO made sure the fun never stops.
FestiGals partied on with their groups and krewes by dancing to the tunes of Groovy 7!
Calling ALL Krewes or Groups

Are you in a marching Krewe? Do you want to grab some girlfriends and create your own group for a good cause? All Krewes or Groups (newly formed for event, 10 people or more) can enter the Stiletto Stroll FOR FREE, due to a generous donor. That means you & your members get to participate in the city's largest second line parade for women, pre-party & After-Glow party at no cost. We encourage all Krewes or Groups to fund raise for the New Orleans Family Justice Center to help women who are affected by domestic violence and abuse. This is a fundraising competition between established marching crews as well as new groups just formed for this occasion with awesome prizes! About the New Orleans Family Justice Center

Event benefits the New Orleans Family Justice Center. The NOFJC has led the way in bring together community-based domestic violence and sexual assault providers as well as criminal justice and law enforcement professionals to provide wrap-around and comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and child abuse. 

  • NOFJC is the only domestic violence collaborative in our region, providing over 13,000 direct services at their single location in 2016.

  • All unrestricted revenue raised goes directly to support services for children and adult survivors of domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault.

  • NOFJC served over 1,800 individual clients in 2016.

  • NOFJC’s co-location model is an internationally-recognized best-practice for survivors of trauma and violence. NOFJC’s one-stop shop convenes multiple service providers under one roof, eliminating the need to schedule multiple appointments across the city to address multiple issues.

  • 1 in 4 women in LA will experience domestic violence in her lifetime; and LA ranks 2nd in the nation for female homicide.

  • Children who experience domestic violence are 74% more likely to commit a violent act.
