FestiGals! The name says it all, and yet there’s more. For the several days of distaff camaraderie and diversions, there are underlying causes, such as the Bodacious Bras Brunch. It benefits the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans and Breastoration. The Saturday-scheduled event — following an earlier Bloody Mary Mixer — was the centerpiece of the seventh annual FestiGals New Orleans Women’s Weekend Experience, which was created by Diane Lyons, owner of ACCENT-DMC, a meeting and event planning company.
Twenty-five bras -- bedazzled, feathered, glittered, adorned with all sorts of appliques and accoutrements -- stood out from a crowd that itself wasn't shy in attire. Hats, feather boas, an abundance of hot pink -- whether it be part of attire or accessories -- were the prevalent mode of dress for Bodacious Bras for a Cause on June 24 at J.W. Marriott Hotel.
The FestiGals Stiletto Stroll was the first parade I ever did as a Pussyfooter. Our non-profit organization of 120 women over 30 was one of the many dance troupes and walking krewes that helped raise money for New Orleans Family Justice Center.
NEW ORLEANS – FestiGals 2017 impacted the lives of local women by raising more than $46,000 for the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans (CAGNO), Breastoration and The New Orleans Family Justice Center, during the June 22-24 seventh annual celebration of women.
I spent the weekend at the most fabulous event called FestiGals in New Orleans, LA, USA! It is an annual event that is known as the Women’s Weekend Experience – and that it was! But was it a “Vacation” or a “StayCation”? It was both!!!

The "2017 Grand Diva" is Robin Barnes. Grammy-winning singer Irma Thomas crowned "The Songbird of New Orleans" at a ceremony at the Mardi Gras Museum.

FESTIGALS NEW ORLEANS
Festigals, a New Orleans festival that celebrates women while supporting women’s causes, will return June 22-24. The seventh annual gathering will take over the JW Marriott on Canal Street and will feature a variety of events like the New Orleans Women’s Leadership Conference, Bodacious Bras for a Cause Brunch & the Stiletto Stroll Second Line Parade.
